i-Sentry Surveillance: PTCL signs agreement with NRSP

An agreement has been signed between Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and NRSP Microfinance Bank Limited for the provisioning of ICT services. NRSP Microfinance Bank will utilize the IP-Connect for their primary network and satellite based DVBS-2 for primary backup. In addition, PTCL’s i-Sentry product line will be used to provide surveillance at NRSP branches.

IP-Connect a layer III MPLS network will be deployed nationwide connecting the NRSP Branches with fiber based aggregation at the NRSP Head Office. PTCL is the largest national services provider with most number of physical and geographical PoPs across the nation. With PTCL’s MPLS network, NRSP can maintain its online communication within all the branches and beyond round the clock at a very economical pricing.

Satellite based, DVBS-2 connectivity network for all NRSP bank branches scattered in different parts of the country will form the backup network. With the combination of MPLS and DVBS-2, PTCL will ensure 99.9% uptime for branch connectivity of the bank. DVBS-2 system is the latest technology in satellite based communications that is both reliable and cost effective.

PTA Online Complaint Management System [http://pta.gov.pk]

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in collaboration with Telecom Service Providers, has launched “Online Complaints Management System” to resolve the grievances of the cellular phone customers immediately.

Federal Minister for Information Technology, Sardar Aseff Ahmed Ali, inaugurated the "Online Complaints Management System" at PTA headquarters Yesterday (jan 28, 2011).

The new CMS system developed by (PTA) would enable telecom consumers to lodge their complaints regarding telecom services online and to have prompt response on them. This system is integrated with operators and the telecom Authority. Chairman PTA Dr. Mohammad Yaseen, Member Finance, Syed Nasrul Karim Ghaznavi, and Member Technical, Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar, were also present during the ceremony.

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has put in place a high-tech and secure mechanism for registration of medical and dental practitioners.

The system, which became operational with the formal inauguration by Health Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin on Tuesday, is controlled by the PMDC Registration Section.

According to PMDC Registrar Dr. Nadeem Akbar, the new registration system will contribute a lot to better health safety.

Rs. 2 for Every Helpline Call by Mobilink / Jazz

Mobilink has announced that every call made to its helpline will be charged at Rs. 2 plus tax (Rs. 2.42 including taxes) from November 15th, 2010.

It merits mentioning here that Mobilink had introduced this idea of charging helpline calls back in August 2008, which was then followed by all other cellular companies.

Mobilink had then imposed 50 paisas on every helpline call and said that these charges are imposed to improve quality of customer support.
