Bulk SMS & Un-Wanted Calls, PTA protects Mobile Phone Users

PTA Warning to SpamersIn an effort to protect the rights of telecom customers in Pakistan. The telecom regulatory authority PTA has promulgated "Protection from Spam, Un-Solicited, Fraudulent and Obnoxious Communication Regulations 2009".

The transmission of bulk messages to any person for commercial purposes is subject to express permission of recipient.

PTA once again warns SMS marketing and advertising Agencies to not to send unwanted and fraudulent spam text messages or calls to mobile phone users of Pakistan. The below embedded public notice is published by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.

Earlier PTCL also warned its Landline / Vfone customers about hoax calls and PTA directed all CMOs to ensure provision of Call/SMS blocking facility.

How to Report against un-wanted phone calls and SMS to PTA ?

If you get unwanted SPAM calls or message or any call / SMS that you don’t want to get again, then send following details to 9000 via SMS
  • Your Phone Number
  • Sender Phone Number
  • Other details you may want to add
Send this information to 9000 – the complain Number of PTA.

Charges: Charges for sending an SMS to 9000 are 10 paisas.
