Pakistan Day Offer: PTCL Upgraded DSL 1 Mbps to 2 Mbps

Good news for DSL broadband internet users, due to یوم پاکستان Pakistan Day (23 March, 2012), PTCL has upgraded data rate of 1 Mbps customers to 2 Mbps without any additional charges till 31st May 2012.

PTCL 1 Mbps Broadband customers can now enjoy 2 Mbps data rate at the price of 1 Mbps data rate till 31st May 2012.

After the expiry of the promotional period, normal tariff of 2 Mbps “Rs. 1,499” will be applicable.

PTCL to offer WiFi Modem with new DSL connection

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited or PTCL has decided to offer WiFI modem, with new DSL connection, except 256 Kbps and 1 Mbps Student packages.

How to replace DSL modem to WiFi modem or Router ? Existing PTCL broadband users, without WiFi modems, will have to pay Rs. 750 to upgrade their simple modem to WiFi modem, monthly DSL charges will remain same for existing users.

Beside this offer PTCL has also increased the tariff for new 1 Mbps package from Rs. 1199 per month to Rs. 1,250 per month. Existing 1 MBPS customers will keep paying the normal rate that is Rs. 1199 per month.

ECP launches SMS Facility (Check vote status via SMS)

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has launched the World’s biggest voters’ Short Message Service (SMS) of 85 million voters throughout the country on 29th February 2012. The ceremony will be held in the ECP’s Secretariat Islamabad.

By using this service, the eligible voters would be able to send Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number on 8300 and in response, the voter would get the voting details like CNIC No., Electoral Area name, Block Code, Tehsil / District and Serial Number.

The name, parentage and home address would not be shown in the SMS, in order to protect the privacy of a voter.

PTCL introduces new Vfone line rents (Reduced)

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), in line with its sustained efforts to facilitate customers with value-added services, has introduced new line rents for unlimited use of Vfone to Vfone and Vfone to PSTN calls for all its existing and new Vfone subscribers.

This remarkable initiative will result in a reduction of Rs.5 in the line rent of Vfone’s Unlimited package, which will be charged at Rs.15 per day effective from March 06 2012 instead of the earlier rates of Rs.20 per day.

The daily line rent for Vfone’s Family package has been revised from Rs 5.99 per day to Rs 6.99 with effect from the same date.
