90 percent of gamers will be on smartphones in the future

Social gamming which has gained popularity through games like “Angry Birds” has caught the attention of the telecommunication sector.

According to a survey smartphone sales are expected to reach 200 million a year by 2016 in Asia Pacific. At least 90 percent of gamers will be on mobile in the future. Internet based smartphones are liberating the social gamers from the traditional home and office gaming. Firms client now prefer social games designed for mobile phones rather than Xbox360 or Play Station.

Previously all the gaming projects were concentrated on Play Station or Xbox but now there have been a big change in the industry and most of the projects are transferring to smartphones. Social gamers rather than hardcore videogame players would be the drivers of developer industry growth. The majority of the population is going to be casual gamers and casual gamers are not really that willing to play their games just on the PC.

More than 250 million people a month play Zynga games which also include "CityVille", "FrontierVille", "Café World", "YoVille" and "Vampire Wars." The biggest costumers for Nokia Ovi application store are its gamers.
