Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has provided fibre-optic connectivity to various institutes of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) for research and academic purposes.
The institutes of DUHS linked through fibre-optic network include Dow Medical College, Sindh Medical College and Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases (OICD), a PTCL spokesman said on Wednesday.
DUHS is the oldest medical education institute in Sindh and the second oldest in the country. It serves as an umbrella for Dow Medical College (DMC), Sindh Medical College (SMC), Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan Institute of Oral Health Sciences (DIKIOHS), Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases and many others.
PTCL spokesman said that the telecommunication company further aspired to equip DUHS with its state-of-the-art data centre services, video conference and wireless broadband services. Recently, PTCL and DUHS signed an agreement for the provisioning of wireless broadband (EVO) to facilitate DUHS faculty members, employees and enthusiastic students in their communication and connectivity needs.
SEVP BZS Abdulla Yousef said, “PTCL is heavily investing in these ICT assets on behalf of our customers so that they can focus on their core competencies”.
PTCL is deeply committed to provide technology of international standards to Government, Educational and Enterprise markets so that it can play a major role in the development of the country”.
