‘Scholastic Pocket Texting Devices’ for Kids

Scholastic Pocket Texting Devices
A company called Scholastic has released these odd texting devices that work wirelessly within 600 feet of each other.

If your kids have been asking for a mobile phone, but you’re not quite ready to deal with yet another monthly bill then these Electronic Text Messengers from Scholastic are in a way like walkie talkies for texting.

Features: These Scholastic Text Messengers can create a network with up to 24 other units, messages are truncated at 40 characters and provide text message functionality without all that messy payment stuff. The keyboard looks sort of like the RIM multi-tap keyboard of yore and at $16.99. This device includes 2 electronic messengers – one for you and one for a friend. It can store up to 14 messages and it also works through walls.
